So the wonderful group of friends that I have are an enjoyable group. One of my friends since high school, none other than the famous Nikk Bobo wrote a short story entitled “The Death of Rick Sobo” The story is completely and entirely hilarious. In our singles ward about five years ago we decided to have an Oscar night. We decided that we would make an adaptation of the story. The following is the results. I know the acting is horrible, granted, my friend TJ does an amazing job as the evil Garth. The special effects are bad as well. I hope you enjoy the movie as much as I do.

If you would like to read the original short story fell free to, you can find it here.

We borrowed the movie “Taken” from JonesBuster. I must say that JonesBuster has a wonderful selection of movies, I highly recommend them. We watched in Monday Evening after our daughter went to bed. The tension built immediately. They did a wonderful job keeping you on the edge of the seat. Overall the movie was great, I loved it. There were a couple of disturbing scenes, mostly when “Peter” gets hit by a truck. I have also heard comments about the main character being too brutal to the bad guys, though I must say, that if I were in his position, I don’t know if I would be very kind and loving to them either. Suffice to say, I recommend the film, but top those who are a little older, definitly not for your 12 year old.

I just got a new job, in order to get that new job I had to interview all over the place. One of the places I interviewed at was called Digicert. They still haven’t filled the position that I applied for, but apparently the owner likes to keep “good relations” with everyone. So they rented a movie theater and sent out invitations to see the new Star Trek movie. How can any one refuse a free movie. Besides, a free Star Trek movie, even better!

Overall the movie was fun. It was quite action packed and did a pretty good job building the story and developing characters. The special effects are really good as well. I know a few people that have issues with time travel, so they probably won’t like the film, but for those that can look past the time paradoxs, I think you will enjoy the movie.

The only complaint that I have with the story, is that I don’t feel like Nero had much of a position to hate Spok as much as he did. I don’t want to say much more than that, otherwise I’ll give to much away. Let me know what you think of the film.

This film was quite interesting to me. I had to wait a while before seeing it. My wife has a hard time watching potentially scary movies, and this one looked to scary for her. So while she was at a bridal shower, I jumped on the opportunity to watch the movie.

Overall the story was cool and the director did a good job exposing portions of it at a time. The director also did a pretty good job of leading me in one direction, and then all of a sudden I had come to the wrong conclusion. I felt part of the movie, because the characters in the film experienced the same thing.

Some of the special effects seemed weak at times, but the story of the movie made up for those portions of the film. Overall I would give it three stars. Hope you enjoy it as well. Let me know what you thought of the film.

I have been incredibly excited for this summer to come. Why is that you may ask? Well, there are several very exciting movies coming out in the next few months. I saw Iron Man last week, and I must say, overall I was very impressed. The special effects were great. The script was well written (a few of the comic book movies have had some dumb lines). Everyone that I have talked to has enjoyed the film. Even the wifes of my friends and co-workers have enjoyed it. This isn’t just your typical super hero comic book movie. It is fun for all. I recommend you watch it and, make sure that you stay through the credits. There is a scene with Nick Fury, I know of several people that were confused by this scene. But this leaves the door open for a lot of really good things.

Being as how I am heavily opinionated, I decided to write a review about the newly released on DVD film Cloverfield. It is produced by J.J. Abrams. It took a while to get used to the HandiCam style filming, (similar to The Blair Witch Project) but I eventually decided that I enjoyed it. To sum up the movie, I have three words to describe the movie: Lame, Lame, Lame.

Why do I say that it is so lame? Well, the movie took way to long to introduce the monster (It’s a monster movie, get the monster here and start blowing stuff up), next I had no emotional connection with any of the characters. They tried to develop a love story between the main character and some random girl, but do a very poor job of it. It felt like there was no plot, and the HandiCam style of filming cut everything off long before you could tell what was going on. If I were there, I would be filming all of that stuff, not spending the time turning the camera on and off.

And finally, the biggest problem… No resolution what so ever, if you want to kill the main characters and have the monster win, sure, do it. Or if you want to end it all warm and fuzzy, sure, do it. But resolve things some how, don’t make people wonder if they died, or if they lived.

So, all in all, it was a lame film. I’m not saying it was horrible, I’m just saying that I will not have those two hours back.

In high school, my group of friends and I decided to start a “company” to take care of all of our group projects. We called the “company” Nikk’s Basement Productions (In honor of the location all the work was done). We called it a company, but it was mostly for the fun of it. We compiled several projects and spent a lot of late nights in Nikk’s basement working on these projects.

I finally decided to start collecting all of these items into one place. I also decided to register the domain www.nikksbasement.com and put all of our content on the website. I have been having a difficult time collecting everything, so if you know where any of this stuff is, please let me know so that we can get it added to the website.

I have a copy of the Adventures of Dixon Hill Episode #1 – Crime in Cascade Canyon which I have added to the site. I added a link to the Death of Rick Sobo, sadly I do not have a copy of the movie right now, but I do know a few people that have it, so once I get a copy, I will get it uploaded and added to the website.
