Return of Dallin

Wednesday, August 29th, 2012

So once again, I have been slacking in my blogging duties. So here we go again. I’m going to try a different approach and see how things go.

I’ll still include a few programming things here and there, but I am planning to share my adventures in fish, fish tanks, aquaponics and green house growing. I hope that I can share some information about how to be a little more self sufficient, even though sometimes I wonder if this all make me more self sufficient or just plain crazy…. I suppose time will tell.

The Death of Rick Sobo

Friday, July 17th, 2009

So the wonderful group of friends that I have are an enjoyable group. One of my friends since high school, none other than the famous Nikk Bobo wrote a short story entitled “The Death of Rick Sobo” The story is completely and entirely hilarious. In our singles ward about five years ago we decided to have an Oscar night. We decided that we would make an adaptation of the story. The following is the results. I know the acting is horrible, granted, my friend TJ does an amazing job as the evil Garth. The special effects are bad as well. I hope you enjoy the movie as much as I do.

If you would like to read the original short story fell free to, you can find it here.

Jonesbuster needs our help!!

Monday, June 1st, 2009

In an unfortunate turn of events, the owners of Jonesbuster are having financial difficulties. As a result the service that they have offered called Jonesbuster has now gone from being free to costing one dollar.

As someone who loves this service (and enjoys it quite often) I feel that it is my duty to help keep Jonesbuster alive! Therefore I am starting a donation fund. All proceeds to this donation fund will be given to the Jonesbuster Fondation to allow the continue of free rentals. Please help us keep this precious resource alive, click the donate button on the right! Every little bit helps!

Time machine: Crime In Cascade Canyon

Thursday, May 28th, 2009

I was rumaging around my collection of school projects when I came across this one. My group of friends all had the same English class. In this class we were assigned to make a radio mystery theater. Part of the requirements were that it include commercials. I have compiled the original (which was originally six different pieces) into one nice easy to listen to, assuming you think this kind of thing is easy to listen to, file. You can check out all of our other high school work at

New Urinal Video Games Launched in Belgium

Wednesday, May 21st, 2008

Interesting article on the advances of modern technology. I never thought that I would be able to play video games at the same time as going to the bathroom. But some genius in Belgium has developed a game designed to be played by patrons of the a local bar. All I can say is “WOW”. Someone has way to much time on their hands. Here is a link to the article. Enjoy!

The Adventures of Dixon Hill

Thursday, July 12th, 2007

In high school, my group of friends and I decided to start a “company” to take care of all of our group projects. We called the “company” Nikk’s Basement Productions (In honor of the location all the work was done). We called it a company, but it was mostly for the fun of it. We compiled several projects and spent a lot of late nights in Nikk’s basement working on these projects. (more…)

Allowing professionals to work

Friday, June 15th, 2007

I can do it myself! Working as a PHP developer I have quickly noticed that there are a lot of people in this world that try to do things themselves. Tinkering and playing with something has always been a very productive way to learn, grow and expand ones ability to do something. Sad as it is, there is a time to play and a time to get the job done properly. This last week, I had a very interesting experience. (more…)

Alfred Hitchcock presents: `The Birds`

Monday, June 4th, 2007

Every Friday my company has a corporate Barbecue, this is an opportunity for the employees to relax and have some fun together. This particular Friday (June 1, 2007) happened to be a crappy day for me. This was a result of several things combined into a single day. Suffice to say, this lighted up my day a little. Sadly, the bird had to die for my enjoyment, but I will let you decide if it was worth it or not. (more…)
