So the wonderful group of friends that I have are an enjoyable group. One of my friends since high school, none other than the famous Nikk Bobo wrote a short story entitled “The Death of Rick Sobo” The story is completely and entirely hilarious. In our singles ward about five years ago we decided to have an Oscar night. We decided that we would make an adaptation of the story. The following is the results. I know the acting is horrible, granted, my friend TJ does an amazing job as the evil Garth. The special effects are bad as well. I hope you enjoy the movie as much as I do.

If you would like to read the original short story fell free to, you can find it here.

As someone who loves this service (and enjoys it quite often) I feel that it is my duty to help keep Jonesbuster alive! Therefore I am starting a donation fund.

I was rumaging around my collection of school projects when I came across this one. My group of friends all had the same English class. In this class we were assigned to make a radio mystery theater. Part of the requirements were that it include commercials. I have compiled the original (which was originally six different pieces) into one nice easy to listen to, assuming you think this kind of thing is easy to listen to, file. You can check out all of our other high school work at www.nikksbasement.com

In high school, my group of friends and I decided to start a “company” to take care of all of our group projects. We called the “company” Nikk’s Basement Productions (In honor of the location all the work was done). We called it a company, but it was mostly for the fun of it. We compiled several projects and spent a lot of late nights in Nikk’s basement working on these projects.

I finally decided to start collecting all of these items into one place. I also decided to register the domain www.nikksbasement.com and put all of our content on the website. I have been having a difficult time collecting everything, so if you know where any of this stuff is, please let me know so that we can get it added to the website.

I have a copy of the Adventures of Dixon Hill Episode #1 – Crime in Cascade Canyon which I have added to the site. I added a link to the Death of Rick Sobo, sadly I do not have a copy of the movie right now, but I do know a few people that have it, so once I get a copy, I will get it uploaded and added to the website.

Working as a PHP developer I have quickly noticed that there are a lot of people in this world that try to do things themselves. Tinkering and playing with something has always been a very productive way to learn, grow and expand ones ability to do something. Sad as it is, there is a time to play and a time to get the job done properly. This last week, I had a very interesting experience.

A customer of the company I work for came in with an emergency. The customer had forgotten to get credit card processing set up so that he could take orders at an upcoming convention. So, the customer contacted my company and contracted us to solve the problem. I have no problems working under these kinds of circumstances, in fact, I thrive under these kinds of situations. We accepted the job and went to work.

First of all, if I am going to work on something, I need to have all of the items that I request. This allows me to properly do my job. It allows any one to do their job. Second, if you hire someone to work on a page, it is probably best to leave the page alone while they work on it. There were several instances where the file would completely disappear on us while we were working on the file. Makes for a long job!

Well, the job went well, and we were able to get everything completed. Even though we had to fight with the credit card merchant provider trying to get test credit card information. Sometimes it feels like I should have been a dentist, I seem to pull to many teeth. Although, this is another story entirely.

I received a phone call the day after we completed the project. The customer said that he tried to do a few things, and all of a sudden things stopped working. HELP! So off to work again. It is nice when all these hours are billable. Once again, we got everything working. What is the moral of the story you ask?

A certain man is driving down a street on a rainy day. He notices a power line that has fallen off a power pole. “This is a great danger to others,” so he stops his car. He nonchalantly grabs the line to put it back on the pole. He is electrocuted and thrown across the street. Later that day the man died from the traumatic experience.

Normal people do not touch power lines because they are not trained to do so. Let the power company do it. When it comes to programming, let the programmers do it! This protects your data from a very painful death.

Every Friday my company has a corporate Barbecue, this is an opportunity for the employees to relax and have some fun together. This particular Friday (June 1, 2007) happened to be a crappy day for me. This was a result of several things combined into a single day. Suffice to say, this lighted up my day a little. Sadly, the bird had to die for my enjoyment, but I will let you decide if it was worth it or not. The first image makes is difficult to see what is going on:

From this image if you look in the upper left hand side of the image you will start to see the silhouette of a bird. Upon closer inspection you will see that it is nearly perfect:

It appears that the bird was attempting to stop once it realized what was about to happen. You will notice the wings down, as well as the tail feathers down. Which appears to me that the bird was attempting to stop or at least slow down. The following is an image of the bird itself:

My personal favorite is the commentary made by a co-worker, Ken Kirkland:

What do you think of this unfortunate accident? Do you hate me now because I got pleasure out of this accident? Leave your comments and let me know.
